Moscow seems to have reached a compromise with Kiev and Ankara on a preliminary scheme of creating a safe corridor for the extraction of stranded grain in the Ukrainian port of Odessa.
The Turkish army will be engaged in operations to clear the area of marine mines and escort ships to neutral waters. There they will wait for Russian ships, which will accompany them to the Bosphorus.
The news is conveyed by the Russian newspaper Izvestia, which cites well-informed sources on the issue. According to the Russian daily, the scheme currently applies only to Odessa.
The agreement to lift the blockade on this important Ukrainian port is considered extremely important, as it can save from famine 53 countries where the population spends at least 60% of its food income, and as a result, feels a lot of growth unbridled grain price, caused by the war in Ukraine.
On the other hand, however, it is also considered essential for reducing inflation in rich countries. The paved cargo launch pact also frees up storage space for new crops arriving within a few weeks. They are estimated at 19.4 million tonnes, or about 40% less than the 33 million tonnes forecast for this season.
With such figures, although lower than expected, Ukraine continues to rank sixth among world grain exporters.
