Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has spoken from Laçi, where he is to hand over the keys to 522 new apartments for those affected by the November 26 earthquake, rebuilt with Turkish government funding.
In his speech, Erdogan revealed that the reconstruction figure is around 42 million euros, while emphasizing that the principle of brotherhood trust is to stay close when needed, not when called upon. He did not leave without mentioning the natural disasters in Turkey and the difficulties brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, saying that they did not close their eyes at any moment, but helped as much as they could.
Erdogan: Today we are handing over these 522 housing units that have cost approximately 42 million euros. In these moments I want to wish all the family, to enjoy them. I thank God that even during this process, even though Turkey was tested with many natural disasters, earthquakes and fires, we fulfilled our promise to Albania and the Albanians. Now I am emphasizing one thing that the principle belief of the sign of brotherhood is not to come when called but to stand by when needed. From now on we will continue to stand by you.
I hope this friendship with such a strong foundation will continue indefinitely. Being with my brother in good times and difficult is one of the values. During the pandemic and during the close situation, all the powerful and big states, locked their eyes, but we did the opposite. We went out of our way to stay close to our brothers with every opportunity we had.
Among other things, he focused on the Fier Regional Hospital, saying that it is the fruit of solidarity and Turkey-Albania friendship. As for the families who will spend their lives in the rebuilt houses, Erdogan wished them prosperity and full health.
Erdogan: Strongly believing in the blessings and goodness of sharing with others and the power of solidarity, we continued to support our friends in the fight against the pandemic. As a result of this strong solidarity, we have the Fier Regional Hospital, which was built within 68 days. This hospital where I participated in the opening ceremony through video conference we called the Turkey-Albania friendship hospital.
In this hospital are already teams of doctors, Turkish-Albanian nurses who work side by side to serve the citizens.
I pray to the Lord of the universe for all those souls who have passed from the non-world through the earthquake and convey the sincere condolences to all their families and relatives. I say that the great God should not lead us to these great trials. Maybe those who have died, we do not have the opportunity to bring them back but it is up to us to take measures to protect those who live here among us. With the earthquake flats we provide 522 Albanian families who will spend their lives here. Once again, I wish that these housing units serve all Albanians. Enjoy.
