Former United States President Donald Trump recently said he was “very close to crossing over” to formally apologize to former Wikileaks leader Julian Assange and his top informant Edward Snowden before leaving the House. White.

The media reported this year that Trump had been signaled by aiders that giving apologies to Assange or Snowden would upset Senate Republicans.
“There has been espionage, and some bad things have been published and they have hurt us with what they have done,” Trump said in an interview, according to Daily Wire.
He was probably not referring to Wikileaks publications on U.S. military abuses but Democratic camp emails during the 2016 presidential election.

Assange is currently being held in jail in Britain, where it was recently decided he could be extradited to the US on espionage charges over war crimes documents in Afghanistan and Iraq.
If convicted he could face up to 175 years in prison. But his mental and physical health have deteriorated from severe treatment to 20 months in prison.
While Snowden, the former official of the American security agency NSA that supplied the information, has received political asylum in Russia.
