The Ministry of Justice accepts the request of former interior minister Saimir Tahiri to be transferred from Fier prison to Lushnje prison.
“The former Minister of the Interior Saimir Tahiri, who is serving a prison sentence of 3 years and 4 months, is being transferred from the IEVP of Fier to the IEVP of Lushnja. The transfer is carried out at the request of his family members.” It is said in the notification of the Ministry of Justice.
The reaction of the Ministry of Justice comes after the news published on Top Channel. Sources told journalist Anila Hoxha that former minister Tahiri had asked to be transferred to the Kosovo prison in Lushnja, to be closer to his family.
At the same time, a source told Top Channel that in the prison where he was sent immediately after the Special Court declared him guilty in February of this year, the former minister opposed the regulation of the Fier prison, according to which prisoners should not be supplied with water by their family members . Most likely, the former official sentenced to 3 years and four months in prison by the Court of Special Appeals may have asked the officials of this institution to allow the water, but something like that was not accepted, unofficial sources said.
On the other hand, it is expected that Saimir Tahiri, after this move and the other request he submitted to the Supreme Court for the suspension of his sentence, as his life in prison is at risk, will request probation for his remaining sentence.
