53 packages of cocaine were found today in a coal vessel in the Port of Durrës.
Unlike other times, where cocaine was found in bananas, this time traffickers have changed strategically by hiding the amount of drugs in the coal.

According to Top Channel journalist Dorja Bezat, the coal was ordered from Colombia by a chrome company in Albania, whose name is not disclosed due to the investigation.
The cocaine was seized in the barn of the ship “Unistream” with the flag of Antigua Barbuda from the Caribbean Islands. It was divided into 53 packages, in two bags, while the search for other quantities of drugs still continues among 6500 tons of coal.
The operation was carried out by the Durrës Task Force, which found cocaine on the ship bringing coal from Colombia.

The ship “Unistream” departed from the port of Barranquilla in Colombia on April 26 at 11:32 and arrived in the Port of Durres on May 16, the day before at 08:32. It is not known whether the amount of drugs had Albania as its final destination or the port of Durres was used as a transit by traffickers.
The scheme of transporting drugs with bananas from Latin American countries to Albania has been repeated several times in recent years, where large quantities of cocaine have been seized.
Cocaine was seized five times only in the containers of the company “Alba Exotic Fruit”. The last time drugs were found in this port was on April 5, one kg of heroin.
