About 2.5 million foreign visitors entered Albania in the first 6 months of the year, according to the Institute of Statistics.
This figure is significantly higher not only than last year, but also compared to the pre-crisis year of 2019, as there were about 400,000 more foreign tourists who came to the country for the same period.
Patriotic tourism continues to dominate foreign arrivals, as 969.5 thousand visitors from Kosovo arrived in the first 6 months of the year, much more than before the pandemic. But, compared to a year ago, the arrivals of Kosovar citizens have seen the lowest growth
After them, come the tourists from other countries of the region, Macedonia, Greece, which has also seen the biggest increase with 5 times more arrivals than in 2021, followed by Montenegro with 199.5 thousand visitors.
The Poles have also been the most numerous in this period of the year, with 39.5 thousand Polish citizens coming to Albania, in increases even compared to 2019.
However, the number of Albanians who left the country was also high at 2.5 million citizens, the same as the entry of foreign citizens into the country. in relation to last year, the exits of Albanian citizens result in about 800 thousand more Albanians than the year we left behind, but less than compared to the normal year 2019.
At these rates and if the states no longer apply blocking measures due to the pandemic, the figures show that this summer season will be positive for Albania, surpassing that of 2019, considered the golden year of tourism, with over 6.4 million foreign tourists.
