The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, invited to Top Talk, said that the opening of negotiations with the European Union is the result of all governments.
He emphasized that even the opposition during the time it was in government gave its contribution, as it is a 30-year achievement of the country.
According to Balla, the time lost during four years was not the fault of the country, but of the internal politics of the European Union.
“What was called the Bulgarian hostage-taking against North Macedonia was the only element that remained, and today those who tried to give other reasons besides the Bulgarian veto, I believe have the time and the day to apologize. The truth came out that it was the veto that got in the way. Today is a holiday, I believe that even the opposition colleagues have reason to be happy. Naturally, during the time they were in government, they also made a valuable contribution, it is a 30-year achievement of Albanian politics, of the simple and ordinary citizens of this country who have supported this process. A call to the young men and women of this country that it is true that the road to the EU has required a lot of effort, but the last 4 years have not been lost due to the fault of Albania, but due to the internal politics of the European Union”. said Balla.
Balla also has a call for the European Union, stressing that it is necessary to grant the status of candidate country to Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina within this year.
“I mentioned to you the case of Latvia and Slovakia. Montenegro has more than 100 months since the start of the talks. The EU seems to have double standards. Today, the region includes Albania, Montenegro, Serbia. North Macedonia, Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, the EU must necessarily open the status of candidate country to both Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina within this year. The region is a region of great importance. I do not hesitate to say that the importance of belonging to the EU in the United Europe is as important as the need that the EU has for our region. Whoever remembers that it is a need of 6 countries is wrong, today Europe needs it more than ever”added the deputy.
