The investigative show “Inside Story” on Top Channel, published shocking data on how Albanian universities in times of pandemics when teaching was done ‘online’ spent money on fuel.
This investigation revealed a shocking fact. Only 0.4% of the budget went to state research, while the rest went to luxury spending.
In this Thursday’s parliamentary debate, the Ministry of Education, Evis Kushi, did not say a word about these findings published on Top Channel, but the concern was in a ranking of Albanian universities published in recent days.
“Ranking universities in this ranking which is only in terms of the content of the online site of universities I suspect is intentional. Of course I can not make accusations but I am right that it is intentional. It is exactly the moment when our graduates will decide where they will do their studies. Universities will choose“, Said Kushi.
The debate in parliament was continued by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, showing the achievements of his government in education. His former minister Lulzim Basha left the parliament hall as soon as Berisha started his speech.
“If there is one sector that has degraded at breakneck speed it is the system that should be the most solid of a nation education system. “Today this system is in free fall due to corrupt practices due to rising in the direction of ignorance.”said Berisha.
