Former defense official: Discovering alien life will change the world forever (photos)
Nick Pope is a former adviser to the British Ministry of Defense on ‘UFOs’ and has recently spoken openly about discussions on public reactions to the discovery of alien contacts in the prestigious British scientific group ‘Royal Society’.
“The discovery of alien life will change our world forever,” Nick Pope told a meeting of the Royal Society, a scientific group that has previously included names such as Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin.
Nick recalled two separate instances where senior group members considered how the public might react to the news of the existence of alien life.
Opening the subject of the discovery of alien life in a BLAZE documentary, Nick said, “I will show you how, if we discover aliens or if they discover us,” our lives will change forever. “While the government announcement of the discovery of alien life on earth would not cause major unrest,” suggests the British expert, on the topic that is being mentioned more and more often recently by the media and conspiracy theories.
Some of the latter say that aliens already control what happens on earth.
“How would people react?” “Not our political or scientific leaders, but ordinary people, employees, teachers, farmers.”
“Would you be surprised?” “Would there be acceptance, or what the governments are most concerned about, would there be panic in the streets?”
Nick said surveys showed that many people would panic right after the news of the alien life was discovered:
“If we face an alien invasion like in science fiction movies, that would certainly be true.”
But he added: “Royal Society delegates suggested that if the announcement was extraterrestrial, it would not have a major effect on society.”
This is because according to Nick, a large number of people already believe that alien life exists so they would not be shocked much, “except those who do not accept other realities outside their world bubble that they have created or imposed on themselves.”
“The key is that people will not be shocked by something they already believe exists,” he said, adding that the public reaction would depend on the type of alien life being discovered.
“The question is whether they will be similar to the friendly aliens like the ‘ET’ of the movies, or like the invading aliens from the ‘Independence Day’ movie – who come here to exterminate us?” he says, adding that members of the scientific community were divided on the issue.
And in fact Nick approached the possible alien encounter, with the clash of two civilizations at different stages of technological advancement.
“If we currently have deadly weapons of mass destruction, what weapons can an alien civilization a few million years more advanced have?” speculated Nick.
He therefore ruled out the possibility of a happy ending to the Hollywood movie type, suggesting: “If we are faced with an advanced alien civilization, the only reaction we have to make is; to surrender ”.
