This Sunday was held another sporting event in the capital, Tiranathlon, a competition that includes three disciplines: swimming, cycling and running.
The first two disciplines including 1.5 km swimming and 10 km running were held in Farka park, while 40 km cycling took place on several streets of the capital, to end in Farka.
For this reason it was necessary for a few hours in Tirana to have a temporary diversion of traffic, but by 12:00 every road was cleared and made accessible by citizens.
Mayor Erion Veliaj said that Tirana today is becoming an example of events of European proportions.
Hundreds of athletes from 14 different countries took part in this second edition of Tiranathlon, including athletes from Ukraine. The contestants of the first three places were awarded with 300-500 and 800 euros each.
For Veliaj, the message of this race is: “Unity makes power!”
Tiranathlon is a joint organization of the Municipality of Tirana with the Greek Embassy in Tirana, which with this activity closed the Greek Week in the capital.
