Tirana officially receives the baton as the European Youth Capital for 2022. The Mayor of Klaipeda in Latvia, handed over to the mayor Erion Veliaj the key that symbolizes taking office. As the European Youth Capital 2022, Tirana will have an ambitious program that will aim to address the needs of all its young people and try to connect the city and its youth with European values.
“We will use all the last days of December to plan a calendar that so far has gone to 1000 activities for the whole next year. 1000 activities where we want young people to connect with each other in many fields, from sports, art, culture, youth entrepreneurship, environmental activists. “It is a fantastic day and an extraordinary opportunity for Tirana, even as a postcard of what modern Albania is today and what we can become tomorrow.” said Veliaj.
The mayor stressed that during 2022, not only young people from Tirana will be supported and promoted, but also those from other Albanian-speaking areas. The Municipality of Tirana has opened the calls for all those who have an idea for activities to become part of the calendar.
