TikTok has announced today that it is suspending some of its functions in Russia. Under the new fake news law in Russia, TikTok suspend live streaming and new content on the video service.
Also, the in-app messaging service will not be affected at this time.
“In light of Russia’s new ‘fake news’ law, we have no choice but to suspend live streaming and new content on our video service as we consider the security implications of this law,” the company wrote. via an announcement on Twitter.
The company also said it would continue to assess developments in Russia to determine when it could fully resume security services as their top priority.
