A fire started by carelessness has reached large proportions in the village of Mjekes Elbasan, where 1.5 ha of olive trees have been burned.
The fire, aided by the wind, has engulfed the area with olive trees. 10 fire fighters and 3 vehicles were engaged to bring the flames under control. This is the 3rd fire outbreak today alone. The other two were brought under control more easily and without major damage.
Every day in Elbasan, 3-4 fires are registered during this period, most of which are fires caused by carelessness as farmers burn their fields.
The fire department appeals for caution as extreme temperatures and wind favor the spread of flames quickly and the consequences can be much greater.
