The Law Commission has held a meeting for the election of the President of the Republic of Albania this Monday, although there is no candidate proposed.
The approved report will be passed to the Assembly in today’s plenary session.
Even the third round of voting for the election of the new President will take place without a candidacy.
The three opposition parliamentary groups failed to nominate a candidate nominated by 20 deputies on Sunday afternoon.
Today at 10:00 he will find the parliament in a special session, which will simply take place for procedure.
Unlike the first two rounds of voting that took place in the afternoon, this third one is set to take place in the morning.
The reason is related to the trip of Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka to New York, at noon on Monday.
In the conditions when the third round takes place without candidates, the four round will determine who will be the new head of state.
Unlike the first three rounds, which required 84 votes, the fourth one, according to the constitution, elects the President by a simple majority of 71 votes that the Socialists have.
After the third round on Monday, the Socialists will start discussing potential candidates to lead the presidency.
It will be the presidents’ conference on Tuesday from which the date will be set for the fourth and final round of the presidential saga that did not produce a consensual candidacy between the socialist majority and the opposition.
It is believed that it will be June 5, to vote on the candidacy that will be proposed by the SP.
The tendency and desire expressed by the main socialist Edi Rama, is to trust the post of president to a woman.
Edi Rama is a man of surprises, this is the moment when he will surprise again, this time with the name that will lead to the Presidency.
