The Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime has imposed the security measure “Prison arrest” for two police officers who, after arresting a citizen sentenced to ten years and 6 months in prison, have released him again, after benefit of an amount of 10 thousand euros.
It is learned that on August 10, 2021, two police officers in Durrës, respectively VB, and G.LL., after being informed of the location of the citizen AM, who was declared wanted for the execution of a court decision of the final form of the former Court for Serious Crimes, according to which this citizen was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison – they first located him and then arrested him, then took him to the vehicle in which they were moving.
After negotiating with the person who was declared wanted, the police officers decided to release him, in exchange for receiving from him a sum of 10 thousand euros.
Based on the request of SPAK, the court assigned the security measure “Prison arrest”, against police officers VB and G.LL., as persons suspected of committing the criminal offense of “Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions”, committed in cooperation, provided by Article 259, second paragraph 25 of the Criminal Code.
Personal security measures for the two employees of the state police were executed today on 31.01.2022 by the Service of Internal Affairs and Complaints.
The court also imposed the security measure “Prison arrest”, provided by Article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, against the citizen AM, as a person suspected of committing the criminal offense of “Active corruption of persons exercising public functions”, provided by Article 244/2 of the Criminal Code.
