The Polish intelligence service has asked the Foreign Ministry in Warsaw to expel dozens of Russian diplomats, some of whom claim to work for Moscow’s secret services but disguise themselves as diplomats.
“The Internal Security Agency (ABW) has compiled a list of 45 people working in Poland ostensibly as diplomats“, Told reporters a spokesman for this agency, Stanislaw Zaryn.
“The materials we have managed to collect clearly prove that the activities of the identified officers and persons cooperating with them serve to implement the activities of Russian intelligence, which aim to strike at the stability of the Republic of Poland and its partners in the international arena and constitute a threat to the interests and security of the country“, It is further stated in a statement of this organism.
A government spokesman said the Russian ambassador had been summoned to the Foreign Ministry and that decisions on further steps would be announced after the meeting. Moscow’s reaction was immediate. Russia’s foreign ministry has warned it will retaliate if its diplomats are expelled from Poland, but has not yet clarified what steps it intends to take.
