The book is our best friend. Although many are focused on technology, a good part of society still remains loyal to the book. That’s why they choose to spend part of their time near the libraries in Tirana.
“There are 8 active library points in different administrative units. All units they almost have libraries. Since libraries also function as community centers, interest has grown to attend. They serve not only to receive and read books, but also to create different reading groups, but also from the community who want to do book activities”, says Lorena Prifti, Directorate of Youth.
Young people are the most regular visitors to libraries. Besides reading a book, they also choose these facilities to study.
“Children come from kindergarten 4-6 years old, there are readings by different writers. The biggest attendees are young people and students. But even older people want a quiet environment to read. Every library fund is enriched by the oldest books, classic author but also the newest books. Libraries in the center have greater attendance, easier access for students. On average, there can be over 20,000 attendees per year. she adds.
Near the libraries in Tirana, those who go to read non-essential books must be residents of that unit, while a card must be opened to withdraw the book. Even during the summer months, libraries are open to book lovers.
