A wife has been charged with complicity in murder after her “cocaine-running” husband was found dead in their luxury home in Britain.
38-year-old Colleen Campbell, from Manchester in northern Britain, has been charged with murder after her husband Thomas Campbell, 38, was found dead in their home on July 3.
She was taken into custody and appeared in court for the first time today, writes the Daily Mail.
37-year-old Stephen Raymond Cleworth has been charged as her accomplice in the murder committed between July 2 and 3.
The father-of-two lived a life of luxury with tens of thousands of pounds a week earned from his cocaine distribution network.
Campbell was jailed for two years in 2019 for concealing criminal assets, while his wife Colleen, who worked ‘part time’ in a supermarket, regularly went on holiday to Cancun in Mexico, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, the beaches of Spain and Bulgaria.
When Campbell was being investigated about his finances, police discovered that he and his wife had taken a 10-day vacation to Mexico with their children, staying at the five-star Hard Rock Hotel in Cancun.
Between 2012 and 2016 Campbell paid down payments on BMW, Audi and Mercedes cars.
Campbell is believed to have used family members in the distribution network, as brother Lee Campbell and cousin Stephen Campbell have been convicted of possessing and distributing cocaine, while Ms Campbell’s brother Brian Bowden has also pleaded guilty to distributing cocaine.
Investigations continue.
