While the SPAK has completed the investigation and submitted it as an accused to the Special Court, the former mayor of Lushnja, Fatos Tushe has addressed a surprise request to the High Court, through which he aims to declare as invalid some interceptions that became the reason for his placement under investigation.
Accused of abuse of office, the former mayor who was fired after his arrest opposes the authorization of telephone tapping and the extension of their term in seven cases, starting from September 2020 onwards. The conversations that were later made public show how during the investigation for the 24 million tender, the mayor in one case communicates with a citizen whose constructions have been blocked by an inspector and for this the mayor suggests that he speak on his behalf.
Regarding the tender for which 10 other officials are under accusation, the investigations show that despite the works for the rehabilitation of an irrigation canal, it was not done by the winning company, but by a businessman who was a close associate of Tusha.
Earlier, the former mayor appealed to the Constitutional Court, opposing the decision of the Council of Ministers that dismissed him from office, but soon withdrew from this lawsuit.
Fatos Tushe is currently being held in custody at 313 and the preliminary judges have not yet decided whether to transfer the case against him for a thorough trial or return it for further investigation.
