Two fellow villagers in Lofkënd of Mallakastra had decided to clean the well in an agricultural land this Sunday, but their work ended in tragedy.
Bledar Bregu and Besnik Veliaj fell into the drinking water well, ending up at the bottom of it.
They were extricated by rescue teams and taken to the hospital to receive medical attention. A few hours later, the 38-year-old Veliaj passed away, while the 33-year-old is under the care of doctors.
The 44-year-old man with the initials AZ, the firefighter who pulled the two men out of the well, is also in the hospital.
