A Ukrainian-run hotel for Ukrainians on the Albanian coast aims to welcome foreign tourists from other countries this summer.
Away from the war, Ukrainian families continue to arrive in Albania, while others have begun to build a life here. A part of the families consisting of mothers with children, as the men are in the service of the homeland, are accommodated in the hotel rented by Viktori, a compatriot of theirs, on the Golem coast.
Margarita arrived here shortly after the start of the war and worries about the fate of those left behind in Ukraine.
”We came from Ukraine because of the war. Here at the hotel I do the services myself. Albania is a beautiful and safe country. Very nice people. My family is with me, but in Ukraine I have friends and loved ones there and we want to help them”.
Viktor reveals that he is expecting another family from Ukraine, while designing hotel rooms to give color to the lives of those who will stay in them. The families housed in the hotel are also involved in various jobs, painting, cleaning and arranging. Not only to earn some money, but also to better organize living for their children on the Adriatic coast. During the week a kindergarten is functional inside the hotel, while online learning for some of them follows.
”Not only my family of 5 lives here. There are other families with children. We are known because we lived in Odessa and our children went to the same school”.
In Odessa, the city where the Russian attacks have recently begun, Viktor has several apartments for rent and has now made them available to families fleeing western Ukraine towards the eastern border. In addition to getting involved in work, Ukrainian families have also started moving around Albania to get to know the warm country that generously opened its doors to them.
