The Bank of Albania, in agreement with the European Central Bank, has extended the term of the liquidity line in euro, until January 15, 2023.
Based on the positive assessment of the request for extension of the current liquidity line in Euro in the amount of EUR 400 million, the European Central Bank and the Bank of Albania have agreed to extend its term until January 15, 2023.
Despite the fact that so far this collateralized loan agreement (REPO) has not been necessary to use, the Bank of Albania considers that this reserve instrument remains useful in terms of taking care of the effects of the pandemic and geopolitical developments on the financial market.
They are intended to prevent the effects of the spread on the financial markets and the economies of the Eurozone, which may adversely affect the normal transmission of the ECB’s monetary policy.
