Brazil’s Supreme Court has ordered the blocking of Telegram, one of the most popular messaging apps in the world.
The court made the decision after app managers refused to delete a message posted by well-known blogger Allan dos Santos, a supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro, who had been accused on several occasions of spreading fake news on his Telegram channel.
The decision of the Brazilian Supreme Court comes after Bolsonaro and his supporters had started using the Telegram application in the October 2 presidential election.
In recent months, several social networks, including Facebook and Twitter, had deleted posts posted by Bolsonaro because they contained fake news, particularly about the coronavirus.
For this reason, Bolsonaro, had decided to focus on Telegram, where their content is not controlled.
