One of Tirana’s streets will bear the name of the capital’s football legend, Zyber Fagu.
Mayor Erion Veliaj welcomed the family members of the famous former Albanian football player, to whom he presented the sign with the name of the street as a symbolic sign. Veliaj said that our task is to turn attention to the people who have left an unforgettable mark on the life of the city.
“In Tirana we need to honor the cream of the city. Children need to hear inspiring stories of those who fought, worked or played sports, regardless of the regime they lived in”, said Veliaj. The mayor added that everyone should contribute, so that people like Zyber Gagu can be models of Albanian society.
“Today, we are offered as models people without merit, who do not represent the values of our society. Therefore, we all have to contribute to bringing people like Zyberi, who we had in those extremely difficult times, as models today. It is very important to give these good and honest people as examples to young people, to show them that you can live as an honest person by working hard“, he continued.
The son and daughter of former footballer Zyber Fagu thanked the Municipality of Tirana for the appreciation given to their father. “We thank the mayor for this honor. Our father was a man who contributed to sports, and not only that, he was also a war veteran, a man with good attributes. We are grateful to you“, said Mustafa and Ermira Fagu.
