This weekend found northern Europe gripped by a powerful storm, which has so far caused at least four casualties.
Dozens of homes have been destroyed, bridges closed and transport paralyzed, leaving thousands of families without electricity.
Hurricane Malik advanced this Sunday toward the Nordic region. Strong winds and heavy rain and snow include Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
The storm started in Great Britain, where it left behind material damage and chaos in transport, to then move to the Nordic region and northern Germany on Saturday evening. In Scotland, a 60-year-old boy and woman lost their lives from falling trees as strong winds hit the northern parts of Britain.
In Denmark, heavy rains caused the temporary closure of several bridges including the railway bridge connecting Copenhagen and the Swedish city of Malmos.
Danish media report that a 78-year-old woman died from her injuries after being knocked down by strong winds. In neighboring Germany, local media say a man died Saturday after being hit by a storm-released billboard.
The floods in many parts of Denmark caused significant material damage. The southern parts of Sweden were hit hard and thousands of families were without electricity until Sunday afternoon. Ferries to the Baltic Sea island of Gotland were canceled.
Cars, boats and several buildings were severely damaged in Norway, while snowfall across Finland caused road accidents and disrupted bus and train traffic in some parts of the country.
