The Special Court has decided to leave in prison Thoma Gëllçi, the former director of ART, under investigation for abuse of office, for a tender given during his time in that position.
SPAK requested the day before information on other tenders held in recent years, but without giving details if criminal facts were discovered.
Lawyer Dorjan Matlija said that the expansion of the investigation is the main indicator that the investigation for the first tender has failed.
Gëllçi, together with his subordinates, demanded a milder security measure because it is not dangerous. The same request was made by the other three detainees charged.
His lawyer has previously claimed that this is an attack, as his client has requested the opening of the competition and would run for the post of director general of ART.
Gëllçi, together with three employees are accused of inequality in tenders and abuse of office at the time when Gëllçi was in charge of ART.
The violation concerns a tender of 2018 with a fund of 86 million ALL for the purchase of equipment for the RTSH Agro channel, where the three members of the Bid Evaluation Commission, Alban Malaveci, Ervin Muraj and Julian Tapia are accused of violating the equality in the tender.
The investigation has also shown that Thoma Gëllçi, as the former General Director of the Albanian Radio Television, has committed legal violations in this procurement procedure and is accused of abuse of office.
