The Basic Prosecution in Kosovo on Thursday requested the detention of 11 persons, on suspicion of taking and giving bribes, abuse of official position or authority and providing assistance in committing criminal offenses.
Detention was requested for the detained persons after an action of the Kosovo Police on February 24 in the municipalities of Prishtina, Podujeva, Gjilan, Istog and Lipjan.
Among the 12 people detained by the police on February 24, are 10 officials of the Agency for Agricultural Development, which operated within the Ministry of Agriculture in Kosovo.
Detainees have been taught to hold various positions within the agency.
Persons with the initials S.Sh., LS, HM, BN, KZ and AU, were requested to be detained on suspicion of having committed the criminal offenses of “taking bribes” and “abuse of official position or authority”.
The other four suspects with the initials DA, KP, Sh.K., KB-S., Are required to be detained for “abuse of official position or authority” while SS, for “providing assistance to perpetrators after committing criminal offenses”.
The person with the initials AN, was escorted to the police station on February 24, but was later released.
According to the Prosecution, in addition to 433,160 euros, the police confiscated during the raids 600 dollars, 200 francs, 275 Turkish lira, 15 telephones, eight cars, a computer, five weapons, a USB and a stamp.
The incumbent Prime Minister of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, has said that he expects a full investigation after the police action.
“The guilty must receive the maximum punishment. “These people do not deserve to be in institutions,” Hoti said on Wednesday in a post on the social network Facebook.
