Today, citizens have bought oil about 18 lek more expensive than the day before, at 221 lek per liter.
It is this decision of the Fuel Board that seems to have ‘succumbed’ to stock market fluctuations that has risen again, failing to keep prices low for even a week.
A day earlier, Top Channel calculated that based on the methodology the Board follows the pricing could reach this level given the growth it has experienced in international markets.
The decision was taken yesterday at the Transparency Board meeting behind closed doors and officially made public only at noon today, as the gas stations had already reflected the new prices early in the morning.
Gasoline will also be sold more expensive at 211 lek per liter, from 206 lek that was, a product which was sold more expensive than oil. Gas continues to be traded for 93 lek per liter, unchanged.
These prices will be valid until Wednesday, at the next meeting of the Board, but in the face of this upward trend in the stock market when a barrel of oil sells above $ 110, the chances of a reduction in prices in the domestic market seem slim.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Edi Rama apologized to Albanians for the comments on Facebook, especially regarding the debates about the prices increased by the war in Ukraine. But, for all Albanians who today have filled their cars with oil, if not forgiveness for the new price increase, transparency is more important how these decisions are made, in the meeting of a board, where even the cameras are not allowed
