Polish striker Robert Lewandowski could be forced to stay at Bayern for next season, despite his desire to leave the club after eight seasons.
Herbert Hainer, the president of Bayern, declared firmly this Friday that Lewa will fulfill his contract with the champions of Germany until the end. This statement comes in response to recent reports suggesting that the striker could leave Germany this summer.
“Robert Lewandowski has a contract with Bayern until June 2023 and he will fulfill it,” Hainer told BILD.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in the footballers’ market, Bayern has communicated the decision to fully respect the contract of Lewandowski’s manager, Pini Zahavi, but despite this, Barcelona does not intend to give up Lewandowski and will try again over the next few weeks.
Lewandowski has a deal until 2023 with the German side, but his goal was to leave in the summer seeking a long-term contract elsewhere. Barcelona is the team that showed the most interest in him and will not give up even now. This year, the Polish striker scored 49 goals in 45 games in all competitions and just won the Bundesliga title for the eighth year in a row with Bayern.
