The works for the rehabilitation of the complex were inspected by the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who stressed that this is excellent news for the capital, as it regains what belongs to it. He stressed that the Municipality of Tirana has shown that many jobs in the capital know how to do better than the private sector.
“We took over the city parking lots, which the private sector occupied with cash registers. Today the municipality manages them many times better, in a more transparent way, and the revenues go for services that are returned to the citizens. I see no reason why the boys and girls of Tirana should be trained in private companies, when the sports facilities can be provided very well by the municipality, so that the Swimming Federation, especially the Tirana team, has probably the best conditions in Albania, “as we did with the conditions for the Volleyball, Basketball, Weightlifting and Athletics Federation”, said the mayor.
Veliaj also spoke about the elections for the Football Association of Tirana, when he said that in this complex there will be space for football in the capital. “Since there are about 6 football fields, it will be an environment that will be used by the Football Association of Tirana. The court, the Federation, the city, recognized the result of the elections in Tirana. We did not allow the elections to be stolen, as happened in other constituencies. I understand that the AFF finds it difficult to “swallow” justice, where elections are not held by command, but are conducted honestly. However, until the Federation realizes that it will have to accept pluralism, the Tirana Association will have the facilities here, including the sports fields, so that every boy and girl will be given a chance to shine and not be treated as a commodity. “he has to pay to advance to the next stage of his career,” he said.
