Police officers in the US have shot dead a snake at least 5 meters long that was wrapped around the neck of an unconscious 28-year-old man in the latter’s home.
Officers shot the massive snake in the head because “the man appeared to be in serious condition and they needed to act quickly,” authorities said.
The police were called to a rural area in Pennsylvania where a 28-year-old man had gone into cardiac arrest during the attack at his home on Wednesday.
Officers arrived around 2 p.m. when they found the giant reptile clutching the man’s neck in the Macungie Township community, police Lt. Peter Nickischer told the Daily The Independent.
Police said the snake was long and its head was far enough away from the man’s body that officers could safely shoot it.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, is reportedly receiving treatment at the hospital.
Police said they discovered several individual compartments for snakes in the victim’s home, which means the attack came from his pet.
