The General Director of the State Police, Gledis Nano, closely followed the training of the RENEA Special Forces in Rinas, for the cases of hijacking aircraft.
For 4 days, with the approval of the General Director of the State Police, RENEA Special Forces, in cooperation with Rinas Airport (TIA), Rinas Border Police Commissariat and the Anti-Terror Directorate, have conducted exercises on the airport runway, to solve a hijacking and hostage situation.
The aim of the exercise was to control and increase the capacity of special forces, to resolve similar real situations, based on the events that occurred at Rinas airport, such as the two cases of robbery of monetary values at this airport, where airport security was violated and the situation from robbery, could have turned into hostage-taking.
The General Director, during the conversation with the leading staffs of FLO, Border Police, Anti-Terror and TIA, stressed the great importance of this training and cooperation between these structures, in order to increase passenger safety and transport of valuables monetary.
At the end of the training, Director Nano thanked the staff and leaders of the Special Unit RENEA, for the high physical and professional preparation they showed during the demonstration of an improvised case of hostage-taking.
Nano: “The training you conducted is of particular importance, because the police must be professionally capable of responding to crime, in whatever form it appears.”
TIA representatives thanked the General Director for approving this exercise and praised the professional training of RENEA Special Unit staff.
