Ukrainians insist that the Ghost of Kiev is real and have published a photo which they claim shows exactly the legendary pilot who shot down ten Russian planes.
The Ukrainian military shared the image of the alleged aviation ace with a threat targeting Russian pilots, saying: “Hello, occupier, I’m coming for your soul!”.
In the photo, a person is seen in the cockpit of a MiG-29 fighter jet – but his face is hidden behind an oxygen mask and large black glasses. The so-called “Kiev Ghost” became a symbol of Ukrainian resistance to Vladimir Putin’s invasion after Ukrainian government officials distributed videos of the pilot crashing enemy planes.
The footage was supposed to show his Mig flying before destroying six Kremlin planes at the start of the Russian occupation. But one of the videos was later dismissed by experts, who said the footage was actually from a 2008 Digital Combat Simulator video game. However, officials in Kiev continue to promote the bizarre claim that the unnamed pilot really exists – trying to garner as much support as possible for their resistance against the Russian occupation.
