A photo of the Minister of Public Administration in Montenegro, Marash Dukaj, where in addition to the Montenegrin flag, there is also the Albanian flag, has brought many reactions in the neighboring country.
The Center for Civic Education and other pro-Serbian groups call the photo of the minister from Tuzi scandalous.
“The Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj, even though he comes from the national minority party, should know that as a member of the Government of Montenegro, and especially when he acts as a minister, he has the obligation to represent the interests of the Montenegrin state and all its citizens, regardless of national affiliation or any other affiliation” says the reaction of the Civic Education Center (QQQ).
“The Law on the Selection, Use and Public Display of National Symbols provides for the prohibition of the display of symbols of other countries, among other things, in government facilities,” the OQQ Twitter account said.
After these reactions in the Montenegrin media and public opinion, Dukaj himself clarified the picture:
“Due to the unprecedented media attention and various baseless attacks, for the sake of the public, I am obliged to emphasize the following: As an ethnic Albanian, in the Municipality of Tuzi, I used the right to place the Albanian flag in addition to the flag of Mali black, because this is in accordance with the regulations of our state; My photo, in which you can see the flag of the Albanian people in Montenegro in addition to the flag of Montenegro, does not come from the Ministry of Public Administration, because this would not be in accordance with the regulations of our state; I regret that the media and public space of Montenegro is still a testing ground for unverified, sensational information and speculations of various kinds. I continue my work in the interest of all citizens of Montenegro and in partnership with our European and Euro-Atlantic allies”
