The member of the leadership of the Democratic Party, Ina Zhupa, has called the election process of the new president a farce, where the opposition also participated.
Invited tonight in “Top Story” with Sokol Balla, Zhupa said that the process was a stumbling block as the constitution does not say that the mayors should agree, but 20 deputies, regardless of the group could propose a name. She said that in the process, the opposition also had its mistakes, which should have mentioned one or two names and not discussed the criteria.
Ina Zhupa: The opposition has a constitutional right, 20 deputies can nominate one deputy, there is no group connection. The whole situation was forced to give claims only to the chairmen of the parliamentary groups. This was a creation of Taulant Ballës, of Alibeaj, because the constitution does not provide for such a thing that the mayors should fall asleep. The opposition had to crystallize one or two candidates. Several attempts were made for an agreement and it was called the achievement that Balla with 20 signatures can nominate a president. This is constitutional. He made his own mistakes and the opposition. I have been from the very beginning that we have to go with such a name and stature that the majority when it overthrows it loses credentials. We are not civil society. There can be no PD discussing the criteria and it goes there with one name, or two names.
Also, the SMI deputye Erisa Xhixho called it a pseudo-process, where according to her the name of the president was decided from the beginning by the SP. She told “Top Story” that the process was conducted to divert attention from corrupt affairs.
Erisa Xhixho: Pseudo-process, from the beginning it was known that the SP had the votes and would solve it itself. Everything that happened, even today that we are talking about, we know that on Saturday, with the burning of three rounds, the SP will solve them with the changes of 2008, which weakened the president and this brought that in the majority he could only elect the president. We have a majority that controls everything. This process would end like this, the SP would solve it itself, they have had the name since the beginning of time. When that table was set up, there was room for discussion. In all our point of view, this is how this process would go, it has been to divert attention from the affairs of incensators, corrupt, etc. They were not honest with the opposition, entered into negotiations and ended up in the theater, to capture the last institution.
