Today is opened the new bridge of Tapiza in Kruja. The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku informed that the construction of the bridge is part of the project they have started with the World Bank.
“We are treading on the new bridge of Tapiza, which we started on March 2 last year and had a 12-month contract, until March 2, 2022, but we are delivering it ahead of schedule. This bridge is part of the first 9-bridge project we launched with the World Bank. We have started a scan of bridges in the Republic of Albania. Due to depreciation and earthquakes, we had to speed up the scan and we got the project data by classifying the first 9 most dangerous bridges and we started with the Tapiza bridge. The whole project envisages a package of 100 million euros “, tha Balluku.
The bridge is 120 meters long, it is 15 meters high from the river bed.
Recall that the old bridge of Tapiza, which was built in 1973 on the river Tërkuz, based on analysis by the Albanian Road Authority and the Ministry of Infrastructure was ranked as the first bridge with high risk in the country. After the September earthquake, it took another hit with the November 26, 2019 earthquake.
Tapiza Bridge connects the whole north of the country and not only, but also Kosovo, Macedonia and the region with Europe.
