Universal health coverage is in the focus of the strategy for the Health Strategy 2021-2030, said today the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu.
“This strategic document reflects our governing program ‘Albania ’20 -’30’, assessing health as part of cross-cutting policies. In these 20 months of battle with Covid 19 we have learned many lessons regarding the emergency system, the response to the risk of pandemics, the preparedness, the flexibility that health systems must have to adapt to natural disasters, the possibility of integrating social services -health, which are reflected in this 10-year strategy“, Said Manastirliu, in the presentation of the plan.
The objective, the minister said, is to achieve public funding of over 70% of health expenditures.
“Among the most important components of the strategy is investment throughout the life cycle and universal health coverage. From this major objective arises the very purpose of the policy, which is to increase public funding, reduce out-of-pocket spending. Our goal is to fund over 70% of health spending from public funding“, Said Manastirliu.
According to Manatirliu, by 2025, doctors’ salaries will increase by 40%. “Starting from 2022 and so we will continue to project in this strategy, the increase of salaries and financial incentives for doctors and nurses, certainly aiming at the average of the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development“, Said Manastirliu.
