After three months with “Foltoren”, around 11:20 in the presence of 4,920 delegates gathered by Sali Berisha in “Air Albania”, the National Assembly has officially begun work.
“Nothing prevents boys and girls men and women of freedom to join today in re-establishing the DP and pluralism of Albanian democracy”.
This was the statement of the former Prime Minister and historical leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, just left for the premises of the “Air Albania” stadium where the National Assembly convened by him is being held.
Berisha called this day one of the greatest events in the history of a nation’s freedom.
“This marks the triumph of a peaceful revolution in the most dramatic moments of the country“, Said Berisha.
He called this event the message, “the most beautiful, largest, most powerful that they send today to Albanians everywhere, as well as to our conservative friends in Europe.”
He closed by stating that the current leader Lulzim Basha is invited to participate in this “extraordinary” day of the Democrats.
Beside Berisha are seen from the ranks of PD Albana Vokshi, Belind Këlliçi, Flamur Noka, Oerd Bylykbashi, Tritan Shehu, former president Bujar Nishani and thousands of delegates and supporters of Berisha.
So far the historic leader has reached the quorum of delegates for statutory changes within the blue headquarters.
The first delegates and supporters of Sali Berisha have arrived at the Assembly convened by the DP membership, in the early hours of the morning.
Also, some statutory changes will be required in the Assembly convened for the dismissal of Lulzim Basha, where the main point is the creation of a Transitional Re-establishment Commission with 15 members and will exercise all the powers that belong to the central bodies of the Democratic Party. , with the exception of those belonging to the National Assembly.
This commission is also described as responsible for organizing and maintaining electoral processes within the DP.
The creation of new bodies within the right, according to its article 65, begins immediately and ends no later than three months after its entry into force.
So if statutory changes take effect, by March, Democrats could have a new leadership leadership.
The chairman is elected according to the principle “one member one vote”.
Whereas, any act of the party bodies undertaken before the entry into force of this statute and which is in contradiction with its provisions, is automatically abrogated upon the entry into force of the statute.
In the Assembly convened by Berisha, the number of participating delegates has reached over 4 thousand 800. The participants, meanwhile, have filled an entire page of the stadium, with thousands of Berisha supporters in two main stands.
According to the procedure, if this quorum votes to change the statute, then the decision takes effect, as it is voted by over 50% of the delegates.
The Chairman of the National Council of the Democratic Party, Edi Paloka, has officially opened the meeting of the National Assembly convened by Sali Berisha, informing the committee of the Assembly.
It will be chaired by the chairman of the Democratic Party Youth Forum, Belind Këlliçi and will consist of five members.
Albana Vokshi, Ervin Minarolli, Ivi Kaso and Edmond Spaho, will also be part of the commission.
With the work officially started, the number of requests of the delegates to the Assembly will be verified, to see if the quorum for the statutory changes is reached.
This group will consist of 72 representatives, Democratic delegates.
They will perform the process verification through the QR codes, with which the delegates are provided. The technology, according to Këlliç, will show the verification of mandates in real time.
Meanwhile, on December 18, the National Council convened by Lulzim Basha is expected to be held. The clashes between Basha and Berisha came after the US decision to declare the former prime minister non-grata, a measure that followed his expulsion from the PD parliamentary group on September 9th.
