Neto Bran, the unusual mayor of Misco near the Guatemalan capital, was handing out Christmas presents to children with pistols on his belt today.
The gesture caused criticism in western networks but local families did not worry as such displays of force have been made even earlier by the mayor.
Two months ago during the election campaign, Bran delivered his speech wearing a superhero costume ‘Iron Man’ and even made a ‘flight’ over the cheering crowds. At the beginning of the year, Bran and another mayor in the east of the country, Esduin Javier, organized a boxing match, according to them, for raising awareness of donations.
Bran and Javier fought with fists for about 90 seconds in the town of Ipala, near the border with Honduras in the match that is believed to have increased the number of voters.
