Police in the Irish capital, Dublin, say they have arrested a man who hit the entrance to the Russian embassy with his truck as he was walking in a reversal march.
The man later admitted to those present that he had acted deliberately by telling them “I did my part” in protest of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine.
Footage shared on social media showed the driver pushing his vehicle toward the embassy gate as a witness cheered in support.
According to the news reported in the Irish Times, the driver then got out of the vehicle distributing anti-Russian leaflets to passers-by.
He said he wanted the Russian ambassador to Ireland, Yury Filatov, to “Leaves the country.”
The driver was later arrested and police said they were being investigated for criminal damage.
The embassy is located south of the Irish capital and has been the scene of several small protests and vandalism incidents.
Filatov has said that Ireland is involved in many “Anti-Russian events” and has accused the Irish media of bias in describing the ensuing conflict.
