The driver who crashed his truck into the ‘Déjà Vu Showgirls’ strip club in Michigan, USA did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, U.S. police said.
The plant manager said the collision caused significant damage as “performers” were preparing to open the shows.
Asked if anyone wanted to cause damage to their club, manager Holly Johnson said: “We have about 200 great staff and outside contractors who feed their families from this building. “They and no one deserves it.”
Ryan Neubauer, 36, a local resident, was arrested at the scene for the crime. He did not cooperate with the police and said his name was ‘Shadow’, implying that he was a volunteer against evil or public corruption.
As he left handcuffed by police Johnson said “it looks like he did it on purpose.”
The police report said Neubauer did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of Monday’s April 11 incident.
The suspect’s Chevrolet van had entered about 10-15 feet inside the strip club in Michigan before being stopped by a collision with a wall.
There were only three maintenance workers on the premises at the time of the collision.
The manager added that she would not focus on the attacker’s message but only on defending her business.
“I will not go into the mind of a madman to find out why he did it, we can not live our lives in fear,” said Ms. Johnson.
After emergency repairs, the club reopened normally as of Monday evening.
Neubauer has been charged with misconduct and destruction of property worth $ 20,000 while facing a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
