At 721 meters of its length, the world’s longest suspension bridge at more than 1000 meters above sea level, opens this week in the Czech Republic.
Titled ‘Sky Bridge 721’, it is only 1.3 meters wide and connects two mountain passes at the heights of Dolní Morava in the Czech Republic.
Its visitors will have to have a lot of courage to walk 120 meters above the ground, although its creators say that “its spectacle is astonishing and an adrenaline boost”.
Located near the Dolni Morava ski resort near the border with Poland, Sky Bridge 721 is one of the most difficult walks in the Bohemian region.
Hanging over the Jeseniky forest valley, the bridge has six support cables to be held on each side, and three mountain sides to admire in the view below.
“We do not recommend entry for people who are afraid of heights, or feeling dizzy or unable to move,” the caretakers wrote in the inauguration announcement.
Before her the longest bridge in the vote was the 567-meter-long Baglung Parbat pedestrian crossing in Nepal.
Sky Bridge 721 took two years to build, and Czech tourism officials say it will boost nature area visits.
Tickets start at 12 euros (305 Czech crowns), and there may be additional costs to take the cable car.
Crossing the bridge will be integrated by tour operators into an excursion tour with legends and stories, say the organizers, which is more fun in the nearly hour and a half required to cross it.
