The American family is already expected to fly home for Christmas after a long treatment, which could not be performed in the US.

Dr Pavel Popov, who treated Luna, said: “Luna has already started talking and says: ‘My black dots are gone, I’m a princess.’

The baby was born with the condition known as ‘melanocytic nevus’ and had the whole face covered with a black mole from birth.

Her parents Caroline Fenner, 37, and Thiago Tavares, 33, said they adore their little daughter.

But they added that with her appearance Luna “attracts attention and looks”, even some cruel people call her a “monster”.

Another risk for Luna was that of skin cancer, which prompted parents to seek treatment early.

Melanoma skin cancer is associated with large moles and is difficult to treat, the network reports MedlinePlus .

Caroline said she had made the difficult decision to cure the girl in Russia, though many advised her not to go all the way for costly treatments.

“I wanted to avoid the aggressive surgeries we saw with doctors in the US.”

Caroline and Thiago raised $ 69,700 needed for surgical therapy at a clinic in Krasnodar, a Russian city near the border with Ukraine.

They had also received the support of an anonymous Russian donor, who had contributed most of the cure money.

Dr Popov had started work with the youngest in 2019 and said this week: “We have only done six surgeries to remove the nevus, which already seems to be gone. “The main medical part is over, but the treatments will continue.”

“Now Luna needs to calm down before cosmetic surgery starts.”

Dr Popov said without hesitation that the treatment was a “success” and that he was “completely satisfied with the result”.

He says: “Luna is very loyal to us. Children are usually afraid of doctors but Luna is not. “She brings her dolls to meetings and I put a bandage on the dolls to ‘cure’ her too, and Luna is happy.”

Caroline’s mother says: “Luna is fine now, she has had her bandages removed.

“The treatment was very good and the girl was not in pain. “A few hours after the surgery, she starts jumping.”

“I have talked to many mothers about surgery in the US, and it seems that children are more exposed to infections, while many anesthetics would have ruined her health.”
