Legendary Croatian footballer and football coach Zlatko Cico Kranjčar has passed away. He died at KBC Mercury after a short and severe illness.
Zlatko Kranjčar’s health deteriorated about ten days ago in Zadar, where he ended up in hospital. He was rushed to Zagreb, but doctors were unable to save his life
In his football career, Kranjčar was known as one of the best strikers of Dinamo Zagreb. He participated in the famous Yugoslav championship in 1982, as well as two Marshall Tito Cups in 1980 and 1983. He scored 98 goals for the “Blues” in 261 games.
He played 11 games for Yugoslavia and scored three goals. During his coaching career, he led numerous clubs, as well as the Croatian national team, with which he won a place at the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He led Croatia from July 2004 to August 2006. In 25 appearances on the bench, he recorded 11 wins, eight draws and six losses.
