Tirana is added another destination that is expected to attract not only foreign tourists, who want to explore the beautiful nature that the Petrela area offers, but also very passionate about sports.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj visited the first “Zipline” in Albania, which is also the longest in the region. Veliaj said that this investment is one more reason to leave the center and enjoy the rural areas.
“The challenge for us has been how to visit Tirana beyond Skanderbeg Square, the Bloc, the New Bazaar and the Castle. Of course, we started well with Farka Lake, but we needed dreamers to explore the mountain trails in Farka, Shëngjergj, but also the roads and bike paths in Zall Bastar. Today we really have the icing on the cake. We have given someone a reason to come out of the asphalt of Tirana, to enjoy this fantastic area, which is the area of Petrela“, Said Veliaj.
He called on travel agencies to include in their tourist guides and the suburbs of Tirana, which offer not only history but also many fantastic experiences. “It is a fantastic opportunity, an invitation for tourist agencies that bring tourists, to see that Tirana, definitely has its urban part, but also has a prosperity, a large rural dowry in the village area. So, to spend a day where, half is a sport activity, one can come by bike, one can go hiking, then one can take the zipline, one can look at Petrela Castle, the walls of Pesqop and have the opportunity to enjoy “really nature in the fresh air,” he declared.
While congratulating the two young people for the initiative undertaken, Veliaj stressed that Tirana already offers a series of outdoor activities. “I am glad that today we broke another record. Until yesterday, our friends from Peja had it, but today we have it in Tirana: this zipline is even longer. The invitation to all citizens is: now there is no excuse that we have nothing to do. Now we have triathlon at the end of May, in Farka Lake, we have a zipline here in Petrela, we have hiking and biking trails in the whole area of Baldushk, even in the highlands of Tirana. I believe that we have given you the boys and girls living in Tirana, another opportunity to do sports, and to enjoy the fantastic dowry that God has given us. “The future belongs to those who do not give up and do not withdraw, and stick to that dream with fanaticism until the end, until they succeed”, stressed Veliaj.
The creator of this project Nadir Abdiu said that what was once thought of as a madness, today is a reality. Abdiu expressed his gratitude to Mayor Veliaj for his support in this initiative. Zipline Albania is ranked among the 10 largest ziplines in Europe. The panorama on offer is of stunning beauty with Petrela castle, Erzen river and greenery.
