Ukraine has announced that the humanitarian corridor in the southern Ukrainian city of Mariupol will be operational today.
Despite delays and difficulties in keeping the way open for evacuation, the authorities managed to put into operation this humanitarian corridor, which will operate only for private transport. Fifteen buses have already departed from Zaporizhia to Mariupol.
Yesterday, seven buses accompanied by a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross arrived in Manhush, Vereshchuk said. If the escorted column arrives in Mariupol, it would be the first case of organized evacuation by bus from the bombed city.
Meanwhile, the evacuation of people from Severodonetsk, Popasna, Lysychansk, Rubizhne and the village of Nyzhnie in the Luhansk region who have witnessed intense bombardment and heavy occupations continues.
