The GJKKO appeal leaves former minister Lefter Koka in prison
Koka is accused of abusing the procedures for granting the concession for the incinerator in Fier, taking about 1.2 million euros in bribes for its construction and for forging documents.
On April 15th for over 2 hours, the former Minister of Environment was questioned by special prosecutors regarding the Fier incinerator.
In SPAK, Koka said that he has followed the law regarding procurement. He was asked about connections with one of the companies that was used as a transit bridge for money transfers.
“I have no connection with the company in question,” he said, “and this company belonged to the brother who passed away.”
Asked about the signing by one of the members of the commission, he said: I had no way of knowing it since I was Minister of Environment.
Koka asked SPAK to conduct investigations in the incinerator of Fier as it is there.
When asked about the expropriation of land he said: This land has been expropriated as arable land and everything else needs to be clarified.
He asked to be sent under house arrest, offering as an optional guarantee the amount of 200 thousand euros, a request which was not approved.
