Since the first vaccines arrived in the state in December 2020, Health Minister Jens Spahn had said next fall and winter would no longer be affected by the pandemic.
However, Germany in recent days is recording record numbers of new cases of coronavirus and restrictions remain in force, whether for vaccinated or unvaccinated persons.
The current coronavirus crisis in Germany is difficult to follow due to delays in testing and submission of new cases as a result of the holiday season, health authorities said in recent days.
But on December 30, the Robert Koch Institute reported 42,770 new cases of coronavirus and 3,838 deaths. Last week the figures were 44,927 to 425.
The measures against the spread of the pandemic set on December 21 are valid for contact restriction in order to prevent the spread of the variant, Omicron, entered into force on December 28 throughout the territory of Germany.
