The German Minister for Europe, Anna Luhrmann, visits Albania for the first time today after taking office.
During the meetings with the authorities in Tirana, she will discuss climate protection and the role of Albania as a member of the UN Security Council.
As it is announced, the minister will meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama (SP) and Deputy Foreign Minister, Megi Fino. In addition to civil society representatives, the Minister will also meet with Albert Hani, Chairman of the Regional Bureau of Youth Cooperation (RYCO)
Northern Macedonia and Albania are the first two countries, after France in December, that the German European Minister has been visiting since taking office in December last year.
This is a proof that the new government between the Greens, the Social Democrats and the Liberals, as it has expressed in the coalition agreement, takes the European perspective of the region seriously.
Already in her first participation in the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Europe, on December 14 in Brussels, Luhrmann demanded the start of intergovernmental conferences with the two countries.
Luhrmann is 38 years old and her appointment to the post of Minister for Europe, a post without a portfolio was the decision of Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. She used to be a professor in Geteborg, but she started politics at a young age.
In 2002, she was the youngest member of the Bundestag being only 19 years old.
