The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, is visiting the United States for a series of high-level meetings.
During the visit, she will also address the US Congress.
Her visit comes four months after her husband, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, made a virtual speech to Congress calling for more military hardware.
Zelenska met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and is expected to meet with her US counterpart Jill Biden on Tuesday, the White House said.
She is expected to address Congress on Wednesday.
Tuesday’s meeting will be the second between the first ladies of the state, after Mrs. Biden made an unannounced visit to Ukraine in May.
Zelenska has no official portfolio in the Ukrainian Government.
But after almost five months of Russia’s war in Ukraine, Kiev is looking for more help from the US.
The US Congress has already approved $40 billion worth of aid to Ukraine, which is expected to be delivered by the end of September.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
He calls the war a “special military operation” to demilitarize Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.
